World-renowned percussionist Benjamin Walsh is excited to be releasing his newsolo release‘Cassettica’ through Hydrofunk Records and MGM on Friday December 7.
A quirky electronic adventure ‘Cassettica’ features 9 tracks recorded to the magic of tapeand is the next phase of development using the Remix Experiment Engine Ben has designed. The Remix Experiment Engine creates an organic way of performing along to his natural rhythm, so the randomly generated samples and synths wrap around his drumming.
‘The Aim of this recording was to add some more groove-based approaches around mymaximalistic rhythmic mind. It hopefully invites listeners to experience just how tight & musical the solo project can be whilst having a sub pulse to lean against.’
With the tracks recorded mixed and Mastered at Groovelands in Australia, the 7-track cassette includes the first single ‘Celestial Mechanics’andwas a Japan only release with limited copies now available throughHydrofunk Records. The digital release is available throughMGM worldwide and also features 2 bonus tracks ‘Quicksand’ and ‘Just APhotograph’ recorded live in Japan.
